The AMENA Center, in cooperation with UCB Students Organize for Syria, is pleased to announce our two day Hackathon, aimed at bringing together innovative students from all corners of UC Berkeley to create useful and comprehensible tools for Syrian refugees with a focus on education, mental health, and economic security. 

The winning projects will be funded until completion and then distributed by different organizations working with Syrians throughout the Middle East such as UNHCR, Karam Foundation, and Jusoor Syria.

This event is open to all undergraduates and graduates of any major or field of study. We hope to bring together a wide range of talents, from students in engineering, the social sciences, and humanities to MBAs and Masters of Education students. We will be hosting a social mixer for all of the accepted applicants the week of the event. Further, we will be providing you with a packet of information about the crisis and its origins and the needs of the people to bolster the brainstorming process before the hacking begins.

The Hackathon is being generously funded by the AMENA Center with auxillary funding from Microsoft. Our Judges will include experts in HCI, Development, and Diplomacy.
